The most recommended is to create a USB bootable, either for your PC or any other computer. If you haven’t heard about this, don’t worry, we’ll explain it here too. Booting a USB is simply a matter of downloading the tools corresponding to your operating system, whether Windows, Linux or any other and save it to that USB. You just have to get rid of any information you have on that memory which, by the way, should have a capacity of about 5 Gb on average.

After you download the tool, you must run the program as an Administrator. You use the right click, then hit Run as Administrator, and double click it. Look immediately for “Create an installation media for another PC” and start the process as instructed by the installation wizard.

Format PC without CD for Windows

If you want to create a bootable USB so that you can install Windows you must download the tool from Microsoft.

Plug the memory into any available port on your computer. There you choose the version of Windows you want, then choose the bit version (32 or 64). Please note that the 32-bit version is for computers that have a ram with less than 4 GB and the 64-bit version is for those with more than that.

In the case of Windows 10, you will be able to select the “USB flash drive” and will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of devices that you can use to install Windows 10 on a USB. If this option doesn’t work, go back in the process and choose an ISO file.

Format PC without CD for other operating systems

There is a tool to create a bootable USB for other operating systems. We refer to Rufus. Thanks to this tool you can create everything you need to format a PC, without having to boot from your hard disk. It is done from the software we have chosen to save in the USB or portable memory.

What we must do is download the application from its official site, from there we can choose the version we want to install and if we give the permissions the same tool is responsible for finding the version we need.

If by some oversight you started the process and did not insert the USB in the computer port, do not worry, you can do it at the time that the application is open and it will recognize it automatically. If this doesn’t happen, try other ports you have available.

When everything is ready, you must select which USB stick will be used and it will be displayed at the top of RUFUS. You must make sure that this unit is the one you really want to use to create the boot USB, be it Linux or another system.

You must go directly to the option that tells you “New Label”, there you specify the name of the USB, which will be displayed when you connect it to another computer. Then select the location of the file where the operating system is located, so you can use your boot disk.

The other option we have is to indicate “create a boot disk with”. You must click on the box on the right with a disk. You will have to choose the ISo image file or another format that is supported by the tool.

When the process is finished you will have your USB boot stick for Linux or any other system. It is now a bootable USB and you can use it to repair any computer you have and format it without the need for a CD.

Tips to reset your computer to factory settings

Consider some points of interest before formatting PCs without CDs. The first one is that you should know the resources your computer has. Operating systems are different and have some requirements that should not be ignored when reinstalling. If you are aware of this, this will shield you from making any mistakes, such as the update not being compatible or your PC not being able to recognize very current versions.

The second thing is that you should be aware of downloading the drivers that your computer needs. If your PC is original, you only have to download them from its official website. When you are there, go to the Support/Download option and look for your PC model.

The third thing is that if you are going to back up the documents you have on your computer, many times we don’t know where most of them are, and going through them folder by folder is quite a tiring task, even more so if you have too much information stored. Then, what you have to do is open “My Computer” or Computer and go to your C drive, you go to the Users folder and there are all the subfolders of Documents, Pictures, Video and Desktop. From there you can copy everything.

If you have more than one user created on your PC, it is very likely that you will be denied permission to access some subfolders. If this is the case, you must open the other users and retrieve the folders corresponding to each one. You should check the Program Files folder and there is a good chance that you will find other files of interest to be backed up.

With these tips and advice, we hope you will achieve your goal and you will not need any CD to format your PC in a safe and easy way.
